Components produced using CONTECH’s P2000™ and High-Q-Cast products can be heat treated to provide customers with the ultimate in product quality and performance.  CONTECH Engineers develop the heat treatment process to provide the optimal combination of mechanical properties. A wide variety of heat treatment processes are available that can be tailored to meet the customer needs and product requirements.

Available Tempers

T4- Solution heat treated and quenched. Alloys in the T4 temper are in the most malleable state thus suitable for applications requiring energy absorption.

T5- Artificially aged from the as-cast temper. Provides higher strength compared to the as-cast condition. Relieves internal stresses and provides dimensional stability.

T6- Solution heat treated and artificially aged. Provides higher strength and ductility compared to the as-cast condition.

Auraltherm- Low distortion heat treatment process. Typically used for thin wall structural components requiring moderate strength and high ductility. Forced air quench minimizes distortion during solution heat treatment.
